Materials Needed

Steps to Create a Membrane Keypad
Design Your Keypad Layout:
- Decide on the number of keys and their arrangement. A common layout is a matrix (e.g., 3x3), which simplifies wiring by reducing the number of connections needed .
Prepare the Layers:
- You will need multiple layers:
- Top Layer: This is the graphic overlay that users will see.
- Conductive Layers: These layers will have conductive paths made from aluminum foil or conductive ink.
- Spacer Layer: This layer separates the conductive layers until a button is pressed .

Create the Conductive Traces:
- Use conductive ink or copper foil to create the traces on the conductive layers. These traces will connect the keys to the microcontroller .
