Components Needed
- Membrane keyboard (commonly 4x4 or 4x3)
- Arduino board (like Arduino Uno)
- Jumper wires
- Breadboard (optional)
Wiring the Membrane Keyboard
- Identify the Pins: A typical membrane keypad has 8 pins, which are usually organized in a grid. The rows and columns are connected.
- Connect the Pins:
- Connect the row pins to Arduino digital pins (e.g., pins 2 to 5).
- Connect the column pins to another set of digital pins (e.g., pins 6 to 9).
Uploading the Code
- Open the Arduino IDE.
- Copy and paste the code into a new sketch.
- Select your board and port in the IDE.
- Upload the sketch to your Arduino.
Testing
- Open the Serial Monitor in the Arduino IDE.
- Press keys on the membrane keyboard; you should see the corresponding characters printed in the Serial Monitor.
Tips
- Make sure to install the
Keypadlibrary via the Library Manager in the Arduino IDE if it's not already installed. - Adjust row and column pin numbers in the code if you use different pins.
